About 3D Printing Technology
3D printing or additive manufacturing is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file.
Objects are printed layer by layer by extruding plastic from a high temperature nozzle. The layers (typically 0.2mm high) are fused at 420° F or higher depending on the type of plastic being printed.
Many of our projects are printed in PLA plastic, a bio-degradable and compost-able material. While it is tough and will last for many, many years, it is not dishwasher safe. The high temperatures inside a dishwasher might warp or deform the plastic, so it should be hand-washed only.
